About the role
Develop and perform spoken-word pieces and poetry for recordings, filmed content, and audio projects. You’ll write original work, sharpen your delivery, and learn how a piece changes when it’s performed for a mic or a camera instead of a room.
What you’ll do
- Write and revise original spoken-word pieces and poems
- Perform for audio recordings, filmed segments, and live or streamed events
- Collaborate with musicians and producers on pieces set to music or sound design
- Refine delivery: pacing, breath, emphasis, and presence on camera and mic
- Join writing workshops and give feedback on other writers’ work
- Help develop spoken-word segments for podcasts and multimedia projects
What we’re looking for
- A body of original work and some performance experience (open mics, slams, school events, or recordings)
- A strong, authentic voice on the page and in performance
- Willingness to revise based on feedback
- Comfort performing on camera and on mic
- Discipline to write regularly and meet deadlines
- Current students, recent graduates, and self-taught applicants are all welcome — no professional credits required
Nice to have
- Theatre, acting, or lyric-writing experience
- Experience performing over music
- Published or competitively performed work
What you’ll gain
- Professionally recorded and filmed performances of your work
- Credit on projects that feature your pieces
- Workshop feedback from experienced writers and performers
Where you’ll work
Las Vegas, NV, in person or remote. Remote interns record performances at home, so you’ll need a quiet space and a decent microphone or camera (a recent phone works).
How to apply
Attach your resume and include links to 2–3 performance videos or recordings, plus the written text if you have it in the message box on the application form.
