About the role
Research subjects, settings, historical context, and source material to support writers and creative teams. Good research makes a story feel true. You’ll dig up the details, verify the facts, and give writers material they can build on.
What you’ll do
- Research historical periods, locations, cultures, professions, and real events for projects in development
- Build research briefs, timelines, and reference decks with images, articles, and interviews
- Fact-check scripts, outlines, and treatments
- Track down source material and flag anything that may need rights clearance
- Scout books, articles, and true stories that could become new projects
- Keep research files organized so the whole team can find what they need
What we’re looking for
- Strong research skills with libraries, archives, databases, and credible online sources
- Clear, concise writing (you can turn 50 pages of reading into one useful page)
- Sound judgment about which sources can be trusted
- Curiosity and close attention to detail
- Coursework or experience in history, journalism, film studies, literature, anthropology, or a related field
- Current students, recent graduates, and self-taught applicants are all welcome — no professional credits required
Nice to have
- Interest in screenwriting or story development
- Experience conducting interviews
- A second language
- Comfort with Google Workspace, Notion, or similar tools
What you’ll gain
- An inside look at how stories are developed
- Research credit on the projects you support
- Mentorship from writers and producers
Where you’ll work
Las Vegas, NV, in person or remote. This role works well remotely; you’ll need a computer and reliable internet.
